Sensei "One who can provide expert coaching on how to achieve organisational effectiveness."
For many Companies that have been on the Lean Transformation Journey for a while, the use of consultants on a frequent basis is simply not the correct option. Many will have progressed to such a point that they already employ internal 'Lean experts' But often, over time internal experts become ineffective due to a number of factors. Close proximity to the process Internal politics Internal pressure from line managers not to cause 'too much disruption' Changing or differing ideas on direction Lack of opportunity different methods of working Lack of opportunity to discuss problems or simply develop. In short they start to become 'stale'
The Sensei process has been developed to help overcome this issue. The Sensei Consultant provides a support service that can be tailored to individual needs. This typically means a site visit once or twice a year during which site progress can be benchmarked and discussed and a forum where suggestions and advice can be given. Internal experts can be challenged and mentored in new techniques and methodologies. Again typically a package will include distance support by phone and mail to allow issues and problems to be discussed at any time giving the internal expert a network of support. This Approach allows the lean transformation process to develop within the organisation organically whilst the lean experts can grow and develop themselves without frequent on site consultants 'disrupting the day to day process' This process also provides excellent "return on investment" since it involves low levels of consultant intervention
